The Panasonic LUMIX GH5s and the Sony α7 III have different strengths and weaknesses. The Panasonic is a better option for videography and filmmaking since it can record 10-bit video internally, offers more 4k frame rate options, and higher bit rates. While the Sony is no slouch in the video department, it's aimed more at photographers. Its full-frame sensor gives you a wider dynamic range Definitely buy used. Also, before you take the plunge, look into lenses as well. Lenses for the a7iii (and full frame cameras in general) can be significantly more expensive than lenses for cameras like the a6400. The problem going with the a7iii is price, so if you're on a tight budget, maybe the a7iii isn't the best option. I plan to ramp up my camera use in the future, so something that I can grow with is a consideration. My current setup, if it matters at all: Sony a7II Sigma DG DN Art 24-70mm f/2.8 Sigma DG DN Art 14-24mm f/2.8 Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 Vanguard VEO 3+ 263CB (tripod) I’m considering adding some more Sigma lenses to my kit, including a macro (105mm I would say go with the a7iii, and use whatever you save or might have used to get the a7iv towards some quality glass. The a7iii is a super capable camera in 2022. I still use it and can't imagine needing anything more in the foreseeable future. $1200 for an a7iii is a great price, even used. So I'd go that route.
